I'm waiting...
biochemastery: (vhuktory hus proof of retruny)
Due to the complex nature of Warframe lore and its scattered nature, I've prepared a focused overview of relevant points.
WARNING: MAJOR WARFRAME SPOILERS. Some of these are well-kept secrets by the fandom, out of respect for new players. If you plan on playing, skip to the "Spoiler-Safe History" cut, which covers events of quests from the Introduction to Natah. There's still spoilers in there, but not as major.

PERMISSIONS
Backtagging? Please!
Smash the fourth wall? No thank you! Statistically unlikely anyway.
Hurt him? Yes, with discussion beforehand. Pound him into a tiny cube.
Kill him? He should be used to it by now. Go for it, but seek permission first.
Touch him? Daring! Maybe dangerous! But feel free.
Naughty things? Half his insults sound like flirting, so I think he's down for it, at all levels of 'it'. 18+ only. Be aware, though: unless optional attachments are available, he may not have the parts you're looking for. He's robotic from the waist down, guys. Give him a heads-up, and he can make something, if he's interested.

ABOUT
Tyl Regor is a Grineer, one of a race of near-human clones inhabiting the solar system in the far future. Once a genetically hobbled caste of heavy laborers and disposable soldiers, the Grineer rose up centuries ago and killed their masters, establishing a new empire under their Twin Queens. Instead of granting freedom, the Queens subjugated their followers and turned the Grineer to conquest. Over the centuries the Grineer genetic templates have accumulated errors that resist removal, leading to ever-greater cybernetic replacement programs to fix their ailing bodies. The possibility of total Grineer collapse is real, and terrifying to them.

This is where Tyl Regor comes in. After the failures of his predecessors, Regor was tasked with finding a cure for their ailing people. Regor's skills as a genetic engineer have made him well-suited to the task, and with total control of military resources required to protect his work and secure necessary materials, his work was on the brink of success. If his new Grineer were set loose, none would be left but the Empire.

...And then the Tenno just had to break into his house!

PERSONALITY

Regor is totally devoted to his science, constantly moving, thinking, talking about what to do next. His genius is not in question, but a number of traits and flaws consistently complicate and undermine him. His attention deficit, while useful for hyperfocusing on his projects, leaves him unsettled, constantly tweaking his work, sometimes getting distracted from it altogether by a new mystery that floats past.

Pride is his biggest flaw. He's unique, irreplaceable. His intelligence, his voice, his fashion sense, no one save the Twin Queens can get on his level. And he knows it. You know those sorts of people who have statues of themselves? He's one of those people.
I'm 0% kidding. He disdains everyone he hasn't created. When challenged or faced with setback, his scorn is immediate and withering.

Lastly, all Grineer are imprinted at creation to be loyal to the Queens. He can ignore orders if he thinks he has a better solution, but he can't go against their overall designs. It takes a lot to make a Grineer defect. But theoretically, he could get along with people. Well, some people. He has a quick wit and useful skills. But there's all the rest of him to contend with.

APPEARANCE
Encased in tight, contoured blue armor, his heavy Grineer physique is evident, but very little else is. His face is constantly hidden behind a custom mask made to look upside-down compared to his compatriots. What's under there probably isn't pretty. We've seen only one male Grineer template and it's homely at best. His voice, though. Deep, resonant, and erratic. Like James Earl Jones on a caffeine overdose. It sounds amazing, but his talking is relentless, uneven, drawing out sounds or rushing through sentences as his brain and mouth play catch-up with each other.

As a cyborg, his appearance is very much dependent on what attachments and limbs he feels like wearing that day. For gameplay balance reasons, he will be wearing a humanlike set of hands, and his signature leg prostheses: massive thighs,
fantastic backside, incongruously tiny running blade feet. They're adorable.

A textureless render is available here, showing off one of his combat pair of hands, and a shield, which he has attached directly to his arm below the elbow joint. This can occur on the fly, with any attachments the clamps on his stumps can grip. An animation of this switching process can be found here, if you can visually track what in the heck he's doing.

ABILITIES

To be updated or subdivided as needed.
Regor's genetic template was designed for heavy labor or wielding heavy weapons with ferocious kickback. Combined with his prostheses, his strength and speed just barely surpass a human in peak condition. ...Speed probably even more so. Do you have any idea how hard it is to make icons for this man? He's a mostly indecipherable blur, yelling about lizards.

While he requires his suit to live, it also has been upgraded with some bonus features: Temporary air supply rated for underwater or vacuum exposure (~15 minutes), brief periods of invisibility, and short-range teleportation. If struck, the invisibility will fail. The teleportation does not require a line of sight, but he does need to know where he's going. If interrupted or he miscalculates a jump, the teleportation will fail, causing overload and injury.

Regor can detach his prostheses at the joints if necessary, and has clamps above and below each joint that can grasp objects or replacement parts.

MoM BODIES
Thanks to his power set, Tyl has three bodies he's switching between at will: Human, Grineer, and Old Grineer.

Human: Thanks to a suggestion from our esteemed Heebee, player of Cayde-6, Tyl's human form looks like a young Dolph Lundgren.

Tyl hates this.

Grineer: This is Tyl's canon body. 230cm (7'6"), personally customized cyborg parts, and extremely hard to find references for because he NEVER. SLOWS. DOWN. EVER.

Tyl has ported in with a more proportionate pair of hands, but in future he will begin crafting more options for himself, which will be listed here.

Old Grineer: This body is what the male grineer clone template originally was, before it began accumulating mutations. Four things to note:
1. This bugger is 210 cm tall (6'9").
2. While the concept image below shows orange eyes, the final version of the design has scarily bright blue instead.
3. The armor here ain't part of the body, unlike with Tyl's canon form, thus he doesn't have it.
4. If he ever grows out any hair it'll be black, unlike Dolph up there.

And here's the CG intro that the concept art was produced for. A male grineer is seen clearly at 1:56, until he is absolutely run the fuck over at 2:01. RIP, dude who desperately needed a nap.
